Satellite images

Animations of clouds visible to the GOES satellite are shown for the days the plane flew.   10-m wind vectors from NDBC meterological buoys are overlaid as red arrows.    The buoy data are from the same time that the image was taken.

One June 07 and 23, a comparison of MABL height derived from aircraft profiles/lidar and the regions of clearing ("With BL height" links) shows that cloud clearing downwind of capes was due to a thinner boundary layer there.  Note that the cloud image and the aircraft profiles were not derived at the same time.  In morning images (~8am), the cloud clearing is typically more visible due to the thicker overall cloud cover.
